Romans 6:5 “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.”
It’s really worth not sinning. When we give up living for ourselves we actually gain something. It is a trade off. God does not leave us without sustenance, but it will feel that way if we are expecting some sort of physical or even tangible reward, proof, or payment for doing good. Jesus said of His disciples, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” (Jn 17:16) We are not going to get our reward on this earth. Jesus told us when we would get it.
He says in Revelation 22:11-12 “Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy. Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me, to repay each one for what he has done.”
Our reward is that we will be resurrected into a life with our God and Savior Jesus Christ for all of eternity! In a world full of pleasures and distractions it is easy to forget this, but we must be reminded that there really is nothing here for us–here being in this world. We give up sinning and cling to holy living because it is a reflection of the life of Jesus and the will of God and we want to do anything we can to love Him and be close to Him.
We will see Jesus one day. Steel up your faith and remember why you became a Christian in the first place. Remember who you worship and what your goal is. Develop and protect your relationship with Jesus with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. Start living for Him today like it is possible you might meet Him tonight!
